Czech automobile manufacturer SKODA has commenced the production of its SKODA Yeti special version in China in association with its partner, Shanghai Volkswagen (SVW).
This move by the company follows the launch of the European model at the Czech SKODA Kvasiny plant.
This is the fifth SKODA model produced locally with the Chinese partner SVW followed by Octavia, Fabia, Superb and Rapid. The new SKODA Octavia and new Rapid Spaceback will follow in 2014.
Globally, the Yeti model is now available in two versions including the SKODA Yeti for the city and the SKODA Yeti Outdoor. Both versions will also be available in China in the future.
Along with its larger dimensions, the new compact SUV features an optional spare tire on the tailgate.
Design of the new version features a front, new rear wheels and more wheel options; the interior features new three-spoke steering wheels, fabrics and patterns for the seat covers. It also equipped with an optional rear-view camera.
SKODA CEO Winfried Vahland said that the production launch of the SKODA Yeti is another milestone for their growth in China.
"We have now made our first appearance in the important class of compact SUVs with a locally-produced model in China. With the Yeti and our attractive model range, we will continue to write ?KODA's success story in China," Vahland added.
