Mothercare plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Matt Smith as its Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director. Matt will join Mothercare on a date to be announced.

Matt Smith is currently Finance Director at Argos, part of Home Retail Group plc. Matt has spent ten years in senior financial roles at Home Retail Group, and also has responsibility for supply chain, distribution and IT. Prior to Home Retail Group, Matt worked at KPMG both in London and Sydney, becoming a director in its corporate finance department.

Commenting on the appointment, Simon Calver, CEO said "I am delighted that Matt Smith is joining Mothercare as its Chief Financial Officer. Matt's experience working for  a multi-billion pound UK retailer, and his understanding of multi-channel development,  will provide the Company with the financial and commercial expertise that it requires to  deliver our Transformation and Growth plan, and to grow the business both in the UK and internationally."

Alan Parker, CBE, Chairman said "I am extremely pleased that we have found someone with the skills and leadership qualities to support Simon and the other members of the executive management team. Matt will be a great asset to the Board, and I look forward to working with him."
